Our Verdict
Although ClickUp is not a traditional or dedicated CRM, it offers decent CRM capabilities that can pair well with project management. If you need a CRM together with an all-in-one project management solution, ClickUp is a definite winner. Setting it up as a CRM for lead management and sales pipelines can be a bit of work, but the fact that it can integrate with other applications so well makes it a worthy addition to your tech stack.
In terms of pricing, it’s competitive and perhaps cheaper than some other CRM options, considering you also get project and workflow management alongside. In that sense, it does offer good value for money, especially for smaller teams.
A clean user interface makes things easy for teams, but some training may be required, for which there’s plenty of material. Overall, it’s a strong CRM choice, but it may not be thorough enough for big sales operations or detailed analytics.

In-depth review

Features & Functionality
ClickUp’s built-in CRM offers a range of standard features commonly found in CRM tools, including contact management, sales tracking, email integration, and reporting. As a cloud-based platform, ClickUp can be accessed from most browsers and standalone ClickUp apps for desktop (Windows and Mac), iOS, and Android. There are also extensions for Chrome and Outlook.
Here are the key CRM features of ClickUp:
Customizable Sales Pipelines
ClickUp’s Board view can create and manage sales pipelines, with over 10 views available, such as Table, List, and Kanban. This lets teams visualize deal stages and track progress. Also, the views are customizable for different stages with different statuses. You can also add custom fields to track deal-specific information, such as contact details or deal value, and easily drag-and-drop tasks as they progress through the sales funnel.
Centralized Customer Interaction
Email integrations can bring interactions with customers into the ClickUp environment for a more cohesive, centralized view. Sales and customer teams can send and receive emails through the ClickUp platform. They can also link conversations to specific tasks or deals. Clients can also be notified of task progress, especially where their approval and insight are needed.
Automations
ClickUp offers automation to reduce repetitive manual work. Teams can create rules to automatically update a deal’s status, assign a task to a team member when a lead reaches a particular stage, or send a follow-up email after a set period. As soon as a trigger action is taken, the ClickBot will automatically carry out the automation, reducing the team’s work. These automations help streamline the sales process.
Documents and Forms
ClickUp Docs can be used as a collaborative word processor, allowing teams to create dynamic documents, wikis, and knowledge bases directly within the platform. These documents can be linked to tasks, embed tasks and other views, and support real-time collaboration with comments and assigned action items. Similarly, ClickUp also provides forms for data collection from other team members and clients that can be directly linked to tasks. Forms can even be branded.
Ease of Use
ClickUp is well-designed and easy to use overall. Once you start using the platform, you pick up the flow and understand the layout and functions easily. However, many features and integrations initially have a bit of a learning curve.
ClickUp provides an extensive library of resources, including video tutorials, demos, and webinars, which ensures a smooth onboarding process if needed.
It’s also not a standalone CRM tool but more like a CRM packaged into a project and workflow management platform. Setting up the CRM functions with customizable workspaces can be somewhat challenging. CRM templates for sales teams from ClickUp can be quickly used to whip up your own CRM workspace.
That said, the dashboards have a clean look with information available readily. In-app communication with teammates and clients adds to the overall ease of use, as everything is in one place.
Contacts & Users
ClickUp handles contact management not as a traditional, built-in CRM module, but through its highly flexible and customizable core features. For instance, sales teams can create a contacts database using list or table views with a custom field for relevant contact details of prospective and existing clients. This customization makes contact management easy for different niches of businesses that may not always need standardized fields.
Furthermore, ClickUp’s native email integration and automations allow for seamless one-on-one communication and related tasks. Team members can send and receive emails from the client directly within the application and even tie them to tasks. Clients can also be added to tasks, and they, in turn, can add comments.
For sales pipeline management, sales staff can create customized views of leads and add custom stages to track where each lead is in the sales cycle. Once locked in and onboarded, those leads can be moved to the client database seamlessly.
Depending on your plan, you can also have an unlimited history of all interactions, meaning all client communications are appropriately recorded.
Reporting & Integration
ClickUp provides customizable dashboards with various widgets (over 50) to help sales managers track key performance indicators (KPIs) and gain insights into their CRM data. This could include deal sizes, customer lifetime value, lead generation, etc. All this data can be visualized with the help of widgets that are easy to understand and show to leadership.
Similarly, users can create reports to monitor sales velocity, win rates, and team performance, which allows them to make data-driven decisions and identify bottlenecks in the sales process.
As for sharing reports, they can be shared with team members automatically with the help of automations. For example, weekly sales or leads reports can be assigned to a manager as soon as they’re generated.
ClickUp offers dozens of native integrations and over 1000 third-party integrations, bringing other tools and apps into the ClickUp environment. Enterprises also get APIs for creating even more integrations, including with proprietary systems.
Customer Service
ClickUp offers 24/7 support for all its customers, mainly through live chat and online resources. While phone support isn’t available, it does offer priority support for Business and Enterprise clients. Additionally, ClickUp has a dedicated Help Center with loads of informational resources (tutorials, demos, ClickUp University, and blog).
